Carlos Sánchez

After years of winemaking in Gredos, Carlos Sánchez found his place in the world in the Rioja Sonsierra. A teacher by training, his passion for wine and oenology led him to study enology and begin working in wineries in regions such as Méntrida and Gredos, where he also started crafting his own wines.

His obsession with beauty and perfection drew his gaze to Rioja, where he settled permanently in 2018 with the aim of launching a deeply personal project, firmly rooted in the terroir. Since then, he has tirelessly pursued his dream of rescuing and enhancing the essence of small vineyard plots in Labastida and San Vicente de la Sonsierra, transforming them into liquid poems that invite you to drink —and perhaps read— between the lines, and to discover an authentic Rioja.

San Vicente y Labastida

Carlos Sánchez has found in these two Sonsierra villages the perfect stage to craft wines that reflect the grandeur and diversity of Rioja. Since his arrival, he has dedicated his energy to recovering old vineyards, honoring the uniqueness of their limestone soils, their landscapes, their grapes, and their people… always respecting the origin and traditions of this millenary wine region.

Ecological Philosophy & Biodynamic Principles

The Carlos Sánchez project is a declaration of love for the terroir. This is why he embraces organic and biodynamic viticulture, respecting and celebrating every nuance of the soil. Carlos tends his vineyards with an almost ritualistic care, allowing each cluster to preserve the secret of its origin, as if every grape were a word in a verse dedicated to the purity of nature.

Minimal Intervention

Carlos continues his project with the minimal intervention philosophy he embraced in Gredos, honoring the authenticity of the terroir and the local grape varieties. His winemaking style is defined by transparency and the absence of technological adjustments, seeking wines with crunchy fruit, effortless drinkability, and an elegant expression of the mineral nuances and complexity of each plot.
