2025 has been a year that truly deserves a toast… or five! In Labastida and San Vicente, the vines worked harder than we did (and that’s saying something!). Between cool winters, intense springs, and perfectly sunlit summers, our grapes reached maturity—bursting with flavor and eager to tell their story in every wine.

And speaking of stories, here comes Veravier La Piedad 2023, our flagship wine from Labastida. Elegant, refined, deep, personal, vibrant, and incomparable… and yes, a touch pretentious.

The excitement is palpable as we head toward 2026: new markets, new challenges, and even more glasses to raise. Because if 2025 taught us anything, it’s that wine carries joy and nourishes our humanity… and sometimes, it even laughs as it’s being made—and that is the greatest satisfaction of all.

And now, dear readers, a question for you: if you could raise a glass with one iconic wine from your life, which would you choose—and why? Don’t worry, you can answer honestly… or invent an elegant excuse, the way we do when someone asks whether we drank the last bottle in the cellar.

So here’s the wrap-up: 2025 has filled our cups, 2026 promises surprises… and we’re ready to toast with you—even virtually on WhatsApp.

Because our philosophy is that wine is meant to be drunk, felt, savored, and shared in an endless cycle… and a good toast should always come with a smile.

More surprises are on the way, including the publication of a collection of personal poetry—the result of a long journey—written in the pauses between vinifications, guided by inspiration. I will continue shaping these captivating landscapes that fill our souls and invite us into a calm, unhurried reading—one I will accompany with a glass of wine, like a pianist who, after caressing every passage, raises a toast once the piece is complete.

Long life and health to you for 2026!!

The post 2025 at Carlos Sánchez: Laughter, grapes, and a few memorable toasts first appeared on Carlos Sánchez Vinos.

Each new vintage is like opening a blank notebook. I welcome the 2023 vintage with special excitement: it has been a year of nuances, with a mild spring and a dry but balanced summer that allowed the grapes to ripen calmly, without haste, almost to the beat of their own pulse.

For me, 2023 also signifies a personal milestone: it is the first year of vinification of the plot I acquired in Labastida, planted in 1950. It is a place with a unique soul, which I wanted to name after my children, Vera and Javier: Veravier. I feel each bunch that is born there as a legacy that they, one day, will also be able to make their own.

The wines we are now presenting have something that excites me: vibrant freshness, polished tannins, a very honest expression of what they are. Among them, La Bendecida and Buradón reveal themselves with a surprising floral delicacy, sustained on a mineral background that reminds me, every time I taste it, of the soil from which it comes.

I experienced this year as an exercise in listening. I didn’t want to impose anything, but rather to accompany. And the truth is that the wines spoke for themselves.

The post New Vintages on the Horizon: What 2023 Brings Us first appeared on Carlos Sánchez Vinos.
